Abu Ruqayya Tamim bin 'Aws ad-Dari relates that the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Religion is Sincerity."
We asked: "To whom, O Messenger of Allah?"
He said: "To Allah, His Book, His Messenger, and the leaders of the Muslims and to the common Muslim." [Sahih Muslim]
The scholars and the righteous of this Ummah always feared fame and
becoming well-known amongst the people. They would dislike for their
name to be mentioned much and you can see one of them fleeing from the
people as if they were a fitnah (trial), whilst at other times you can
see one get up and leave the circle of knowledge which he was
conducting because the numbers became too many.
‘Ibaadah (worship) in Arabic means submission and humbling oneself. The Arabs use the phrase tareeq mu’abbad to describe a smooth path which has been become smooth because so many feet have walked on it.
